Mammoth Mountain may be down to its last few days for the 2006/2007 ski-season but that doesn't mean any slowing down for most of the skiers and snowboarders still enjoying the beautiful weather and great Spring snow. In fact for some riders, like Jeremy McGhee and Lonnie Kauk, it's the time of the season to let it all hang out. With only a few days remaining in the season both decided to take advantage of Mammoth's sole remaining 65' table jump to put their skills to the test.
True, if you know Lonnie at all you know that he's no stranger to jumps of this scale. But, for Jeremy McGhee, an accomplished sit-ski rider, hitting 65' foot table jumps is nothing short of mind-blowing. And, well, that's exactly what Jer did this week-end: blow us away. For one afternoon at Mammoth's Unbound Main Terrain Park in the Spring of 2007, time stood still. Nearly all Mammoth park riders stopped what they were doing to witness one of the most inspiring feats of skill and courage that they'll ever see. Jeremy, after several speed-checks, dropped in on Mammoth's massive 65' table jump. As Jer came launching off the huge take-off the crowd of on-lookers erupted with thunderous cheers and gaped jaws. He bobbled for a moment as he touched down before going to his side in the soft spring snow. Jer righted himself and immediately jumped on Mammoth's Thunder-Bound Express, returning to the top of the jump's in-run for attempt #2.
Have a look at the latest photos in the Gallery, including the Pic of the Week for coverage of Jeremy and Lonnie's high-flying jump action from this past week. And as far as the rest of Jeremy's story goes, for the "full-monty" you'll have to be sure to check out OPP's forthcoming Fall 2007 release. Sorry. . . And don't forget, it's a new week and that means a new Clip of the Week. Thanks for stopping by.
