Some days are better than others. This was NOT one of those days. One of our closest friends, Kevin Malone, took a seemingly harmless fall but the result was anything but that.
The impact was just right that he broke his collar bone for the second time this season. He simply caught an edge in the soft spring snow and in the blink of an eye was down.
For so many reasons it is always so disheartening to see a friend "put on the sidelines." We've all been through the challenges of injuries, we can all relate. We live here to
get outside, to ski, to soar, to be free. Sometimes injuries snatch all that right out from under you. And the thing is you're still here, so close to everything that you want
to be a part of. You see the blue skies, the mountain, your friends return from the hill with stories from that day.
What can you do, right? There are so many different possible injuries, all of varying severity. Whatever the injury is you can just about always say, "well, atleast I didn't _____."
And when you are forced to be away from the thing that you love you just gain greater appreciation for it and all the little things that make it what it is. The wind on your face,
the gliding sensation under your feet, laughing with friends, and on and on.
We wish all the best to you, Kevin, for a healthy, full, speedy recovery. I have total faith that you'll be back as strong as ever, throwing the 'icee-est' rodeos and rodeo 7s ever.
To get slightly more aquainted with Mr. Malone check out this short demo that we added to the videos library.
