It's now been three weeks since Mammoth's lifts stopped running for skiing and snowboarding yet we've managed to get our "snow-sliding" fix by seeking out the last
patches of snow hidden in the woods outside of Mammoth Lakes. But, alas, these last bastions of winter-time fun are now gone. Summer-time temps are here to stay,
for a few months atleast, and considering the low snowpack, it's impressive that we were able to push it this far. If you've visited skiopp.com at all in the past couple weeks
then you've probably had a chance to view some of the photos demonstrating just how we put this snow to use. As a tribute to the great memories created
from these sessions we've updated the gallery
with a fresh set of photos.
So, with no snow in Mammoth for a few months, what now? Well, no doubt, if playing in the great outdoors year-round is your thing, then Mammoth is a spectacular place to be.
Off-season activities here are practically endless. There's hiking, rock-climbing, golfing, camping, fishing, wakeboarding, cycling and mountain biking, to name a few. In fact Mammoth's
Mountain Bike Park is scheduled to open this coming Saturday. And what makes enjoying your favorite summer time activities so great here, aside from the
beautiful landscape, is the picture-perfect weather.
And, sometimes to better appreciate your home environment it is a must to travel and explore other fun recreation possibilities in other parts of the state, country, world. This past week
we did just that. We were fortunate enough to get away to San Diego and enjoy some relaxing time lounging on the beach and thanks to the staff at the
Mission Bay Youth Water Sports Camp
we were able to get out for some wakeboarding and waterskiing. A big thanks to Jeff Rush, John Noble, and Michelle Shea! Have a look at the clip of the week
for a peak at the action.
